Baccarat is a card game where players predict whether the banker's hand, the player's hand, or a tie will win. The game uses six or eight standard decks of playing cards, with face cards and tens valued at zero, aces at one, and all other cards valued at their pip value.
Each round begins with the player and banker receiving two cards each. The objective is to achieve a hand value as close to nine as possible. If a hand's total exceeds nine, the tens digit is dropped; for example, a hand totaling 15 counts as five.
The game operates with strict, predetermined rules for drawing additional cards. The player's hand acts first, and based on their total, they either stand or draw a third card. The banker then follows specific drawing rules that depend on both their initial hand and any third card drawn by the player.
